Caucasus Mountains Caucasus Mountains- Mountain chain in Russia between the Caspian Sea and Black sea. Area: 184,359 sq miles. Highest point is Mount Elbrus, Elevation: 18,510 feet. These mountains connect the Caspian and Black seas. North European Plain North European Plain- Main use is for commercial farming, with little vegetation remaining. Volga River Volga River- Widely viewed as the national river in Russia.

Cold Climate Cold Climate- Russia has very cold and dry winters. In a way, there are advantages to having bitterly cold winters. It prevents other countries from going to war on Russia. Since the conditions are so horrible, many of the other soliders would die because they didnt know how to survive the weather. Some of the soliders limbs would fall because of frostbite. Warm Climate Warm Climate- Russia’s summers aren’t very warm either. They are rather chilly. Summers are usually dry here.
Vegetation Vegetation- Russia is 75% forests. The Taiga belt is a forest belt that grows in Russia. Therefore only about 10% of land is used for agriculture. Chernosium also grows in Russia. Chernosium is rich fertile soil that is great for farming.

Matryoshka dolls are dolls that fit inside each other. The first set of dolls were made in 1890. They often have a theme about them that means something. Some examples of themes are fairytales or Soviet leaders. These dolls are also used as a metaphor to show that says “object within a smaller object”. Population- Russia’s population is 143,300,000 as of September 1,2012. Russian Ballet- The theatres began showing ballets in the 19th century. Tickets were inexpensive in some seating sections so the unwealthy could come and watch the ballets also. The first ballet company, Imperial School of Ballet, was opened in St. Petersburg around 1740. Ballet Russes and Mariinsky Ballet are very famous companies in the ballet world. Anna Pavlova and Alexander Godunov were famous dancers back in the day.

So when they try to go to trade with us,they are faced with a challenge of difference in money, they have to either change their money into USD, or we have to change ours into their Russian money.
